Technically, Sociology is the study of human society – usually the kind of societies that emerged since the industrial revolution. So, while there is overlap with anthropology and history, the time frame in sociology is the most recent part of the human story. Sociology is concerned with groups (age, ethnicity, gender, political), institutions (education, family, media, medicine & health, law, science, work), and processes (socialization throughout the life course, globalization and democratization). Sociology is also concerned with power and inequity (who has less/more and why).
