After their first or second consecutive semester without meeting minimum standards, students on probation may register in upcoming courses, but they can expect a probation notification letter to be sent to student email offering further resources and assistance.
After a third consecutive semester, students on dismissal are not eligible to register in courses for upcoming semesters. They can expect a dismissal notification letter from Collumbia College, and they should use the Appeal for Readmission Form to appeal for earlier reinstatement if they feel personal circumstances warrant an exception.
Students won't be required to meet these standards until they have taken at least 12 semester units. Similarly, there are two types of dismissal: academic and progress. After three (3) consecutive semesters on academic or progress probation, dismissal from Columbia College usually occurs for one year.
