Our mobility assistance Tram service accommodates individuals who find the hilly terrain and numerous stairs at Columbia College difficult or impossible to walk or wheel. DMV placard holders may park in the spaces designated for them and receive rides from there as needed. Transport is also available from parking lots for students who have temporary or chronic mobility issues not severe enough to warrant qualification for a DMV placard.
Students with a verified mobility disability can have tram service added to their accommodation plan. Temporary tram service is also available for students with verified mobility limitations due to injury or surgery.
Our regulations require that each student with disabilities have a current verification of their disability on file in our office.
We have staff available to help you obtain the necessary documentation and complete the application process. Rides are available when documentation has been received and your DSPS intake is completed.
There are fixed pick-up spots. These spots service multiple buildings on campus and may require limited walking or wheeling to your final destination.
Please consult the Tram stop map.
There are two options for service: setting up regular rides for the entire semester and/or unscheduled rides.
If you need an unscheduled ride, please call as early as possible to arrange for a pick-up. Contact information is listed in the contact section below.
Regularly scheduled rides have priority. Unscheduled rides are filled on an as-available basis.
Arrive at your scheduled pick-up spot by the start of your pick-up window. Please wait until the tram arrives. If you are not there during your window, there may not be time to circle back to get you immediately.
Life happens. If there are any changes, such as running late, class ending early, being sick, etc. please contact us to adjust your pick-ups for the day .
Failure to meet the tram three (3) times for a scheduled ride without notifying the DSPS office may result in discontinuation of service. Service may be reinstated after meeting with DSPS staff.
